Yerba Prima Body Brush for Dry skin brushingJul 21, 2008

I just bought this product at Whole Foods last week. I'm loving it already. The woman working in the health and beauty department there told me it was the best brush she's ever had. Her skin was like butter and she was probably in her mid thirties to early forties. I couldn't believe how smooth it was, so of course I bought it. I have no regrets. I was actually looking for a shower brush. You can use this in the shower if you want to, but it's really meant to be used as a dry brush. Wetting the wood will cause it to warp over time. Dry brushing is done right before you shower in long gentle strokes. It exfoliates the skin and stimulates the lymphatic system. I'm not sure about the second claim yet, but it certainly does a great job at leaving the skin smooth and vibrant. I think the benefits of using this brush for dry skin brushing as it was intended far outweigh any benefit acheived by using it in the shower with soap or body wash. The brush is ideal for my needs. It is a DRY skin brush. That means you use it dry, not wet. I normally do a fully body brush down each morning before I take my shower. Brushing helps to remove all the dead skin cells, as well as stimulating the superficial lymphatic system. For me the stiffness of the bristles is just right ... it is invigorating without being irritating. The first few days I used it I had to brush fairly lightly as my skin was not used to this kind of sensation, but after several days it became a pleasant feeling and I was able to apply more pressure. If you have very thin skin or brittle skin you should probably start very, very lightly and as your skin becomes healthier, increase the pressure. I chose this brush over others primarily because it is a vegan product. I am very happy with my choice.

Brush will become flexible w/use. Rub on your hands a little bit of aromatic oil and brush brush over your hands- the oil will soften the pips. Brush w/ the grain, always in the direction of your heart. A wonderful 3-5 minute morning beauty and health routine. Shower or bathe After the brushing to eliminate toxins. Use on dry skin only. Enjoy.
I have bought two, one formy husband and one for me. Detachable handle makes it versatile. I like the product. Will recommend it.

I LOVE this skin brush! I've been using it for about 2-weeks now every morning before my shower a and my skin has become AMAZINGLY soft! Even cellulite marks have begun to diminish! Highly recommended!!

This skin brush could have been perfect. The brush itself is amazing. Scrubs very well, very durable. The only problems is the handle it attaches to. To attach it, you just slide it in. When scrubbing your back, it will just as easily slide out. I believe a screw in option would make this thing perfect. If it were not for the handle falling off, i would have given this item 5 stars, one of the main reasons i got this item was to scrub my back
